Nedmag and REACH

NEDMAG is committed to making REACH a success. We will work closely together with our customers, downstream users, distributors and suppliers to implement this framework for sustainable development.

Pre-registration
The new REACH legislation (EC Directive 1907/2006) that has entered into force on 1 June 2007 is the biggest regulatory framework in the history of the chemical industry and its downstream users in Europe. REACH is an integrated system for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of all Chemicals manufactured, imported, and used in the European Union. The aim is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through better and earlier identification of the properties of chemical substances. REACH replaces several existing pieces of legislation and creates one single system for all existing and future chemical substances, which must be registered with a new European Chemicals Agency.
NEDMAG has successfully pre-registered all its products, which allows uninterrupted business.

Note 1:
Magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride are substances that are exempted from registration (REACH legislation, ref. Annex V).
Note 2:
None of the Nedmag products are classified as substances of very high concern.
Preparing for registration
We are currently working on the registration of magnesium hydroxide and calcium chloride, which has to be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency before 1 December 2010. In view of our registration responsibilities, NEDMAG INDUSTRIES would like to confirm that we will take the initiative to contact you in advance of this date to obtain information about the use and exposure scenarios of our products.
