Nedmag and REACH

NEDMAG is committed to making REACH a success. We will work closely together with our customers, downstream users, distributors and suppliers to implement this framework for sustainable development.

Pre-registration
The new REACH legislation (EC Directive 1907/2006) that has entered into force on 1 June 2007 is the biggest regulatory framework in the history of the chemical industry and its downstream users in Europe. REACH is an integrated system for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of all Chemicals manufactured, imported, and used in the European Union. The aim is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through better and earlier identification of the properties of chemical substances. REACH replaces several existing pieces of legislation and creates one single system for all existing and future chemical substances, which must be registered with a new European Chemicals Agency.
NEDMAG has successfully pre-registered all its products, which allows uninterrupted business.

Note 1:
Magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride are substances that are exempted from registration (REACH legislation, ref. Annex V).
Note 2:
None of the Nedmag products are classified as substances of very high concern.
Preparing for registration
We are currently working on the registration of magnesium hydroxide and calcium chloride, which has to be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency before 1 December 2010. In view of our registration responsibilities, NEDMAG INDUSTRIES would like to confirm that we will take the initiative to contact you in advance of this date to obtain information about the use and exposure scenarios of our products.

Biography A. Plasman

Since Januari 2010, At Plasman is appointed as Director Operations of NEDMAG INDUSTRIES Mining & Manufacturing Holding B.V. in Veendam, the Netherlands.

At Plasman was born in 1965 in Zwolle. After finishing Naval College in 1987 and working as watch keeping officer for a couple of years, he started working in the paper industry. From 1995 he had different managerial positions within SCA Hygiene Products Hoogezand. In the meantime graduated in business administration, he moved in 2003 to France as Plant Manager for SCA Hygiene in Linselles Back in Holland he was responsible for the operations of Ship´s Equipment Centre (manufacturer of winches and anchors) and later on for Koopman Autotransport.

Biography P.A. Schipper

Since November 2008, Paul Schipper has been Managing Director of NEDMAG INDUSTRIES Mining & Manufacturing Holding B.V. in Veendam, The Netherlands.

Paul Schipper was born in Arnhem in 1966. In 1989, Paul Schipper graduated as Master of Science from Twente University of Technology. In September 1996, he became a CMA (Certified Management Accountant) at the Free University of Technology. At the end of 1989 he started his work experience in the food industry as Project Manager, Maintenance Manager and Production Manager at Unilever. From 1996 until 2006, he was responsible for the production, factory, and operations at Greif (packaging) before he moved to Biomet (orthopaedics) as European Supply Chain Director and Managing Director of Biomet Sweden.
