Magnesium chloride is used in the textile industry as a catalyst in the so-called “finishing” process. This is the process in which textiles composed of cellulosic fibres (alone and in blends with synthetic fibres) are impregnated with a resin. This resin prevents creases and folds and gives also a “crease-recovering” effect to clothes, curtains, etc.
